As the four dragons walked past the river back to the cheetah village, Spyro noticed that Flame and Ember had both grown a lot since he last saw them.

Flame - the happy out-going little dragon he used to know had matured quite a lot. His scales were now a deeper and richer colour of red. His yellow underbelly looked thicker almost like battle armor. His horns were now less brittle looking and longer, making them look almost like Ignitus'. He now had musceles in those arms and legs, and his wings were strong and fully grown. None of this bothered Spyro, except the fact that Flame was an inch taller than him.

Ember on the other hand had a skinny body like Cynder's, except it was softer and not as tight. Her scales were the same bright pink like he had remembered. Her eyelashes were longer, making her look almost beautiful if not for her obsessive personality. Her paws were small and her wings were very fragile-looking. Her horns were still yellow, but a bit longer and more down-sided. The only jewelery she wore was the familiar heart-shaped necklace.

"Spyro, these were the cheetahs you were talking about?" Ember suddenly said, stopping Spyro from studying her.

"Oh, yeah. . . you should remember Hunter. He was my best friend before I left."

Ember seemed to wince a little when he said the last word. "Why'd you leave Spyro? So. . . unexpectedly."

"Cynder -" He stopped when the dark purple dragoness glared at him innocently. "I mean, when she was corrupted, was following me. I ran away from her with Sparx, and found myself getting visions and messages from the Chronicler. If I knew I would be going so far, of course I would have said goodbye. . . to everyone I mean."

"Oh." Ember sighed, dissapointed that he didn't just mean her. She took a glance at Cynder. "Why're you wearing those death-chains?"

Cynder raised a brow. "Death chains?"

   Ember motioned towards her jewelery.

"They're not death chains, Ember. They're spike collars.

"Yeah, but why're you wearing them? Don't they hurt?" She asked, dumbfounded.

"She wears them because it suites her." Spyro interrupted protectively, looking into Cynder's eyes. "Perfectly."

Ember glared again at Cynder, angry that Spyro would protect her like that. She then turned her head around and kept walking towards the Cheetah villiage with a, "hmph"

As the dragons got there, Cynder asked: "Why didn't we just fly? My 'death chains' are actually hurting now." She rubbed her wrists.

Flame flashed a worried look at Ember, who shook her head quickly.

"Spyro! Cynder!" A voice said in front of them. Hunter, dressed in his familiar red cape and archery weapons came forward. "How glad I am to see you two! You have grown a bit since your battle with Malefor." He glanced at Ember and Flame. "And if I may ask, who are these young dragons?"

Ember flickered her eyelashes as she came forward. "Ember the fire dragoness, and this is Flame - also a fire dragon. We have been friends with Spyro for a long time." She turned her head to Cynder. "Longer than she has."

Hunter blinked at the obvious jealousy. "Well. . ." He said hearing a growl low enough it could only be Cynder's. "Before we get carried away, perhaps you dragons would like something to eat? We have fresh Kirpi toasting on the fire! No, cross that. . . we shall celebrate your arival with a feast!"

"On my aproval," came Chief Prowlus' voice from behind Hunter. "Welcome purple dra-" He paused looking at the fire dragons. "I see we have fire elemental dragons with us too, I trust these are your friends?" He asked looking at Spyro and Cynder, both nodding their heads. Chief Prowlus smiled. "Then, let us have our feast!"

The feast took place when the three moons came over Avalar under the night sky. The foods surved were Kirpi, Grublins, Avalarian berries and crystal water from the rivers. Cynder sat beside Spyro, Ember staring at the two cautiously. Flame on the other hand, was ignoring Ember, tending to the fire and food instead.

"We are pleased that you have joined us, Spyro and Cynder. Much great news has accured since Malefor's fall." Chief Prowlus said cheerfully, coming to sit on a log by the young dragons. "And now, I believe Hunter would like to tell a story - a story about the first purple dragon."

Spyro's eyes widened and Cynder flashed a smile. "The first?" He asked.

Hunter came smiling, getting comfortable on a log by the dragons.
"It all started many moons ago. . ."

Back when time was just a thought, dragons had been the only thing of existance. There were smaller things, but dragons reffered to themselves as 'lords' or 'gods' making the smaller creatures just meals. It all happened when the first guardians were chosen. Since the time was long ago, none of their names were recorded. But the fire guardian had made his fatal mistake.

"It's almost finished. . ." The fire guardian had said. She was a female guardian, very interested in experiments of all sorts. "I just have a few things to fill in. . ."

"You can not possibly think this'll work?" The earth guardian had said to her. "An egg cannot just be made. . . what was the word. . . scientifically?"

"Aw, but that is where you are wrong." She said. "Done! Now I just need to speed up the time within its egg so it may hatch."

"Speed it up? That is just wrong! Dragons need time to hatch! The process is only but very slow!" The earth guardian said.

But it was too late. The fire guardian had blew her fire on the egg, speeding the time as she had said. In an instance, it began to crack. "Aha! Now we may re-populate any place we like! This is a new start, and new life -" She suddenly stopped.

"What. . . is that?! What. . .what have you created?" The earth guardian asked. For he was looking at a purple dragon, looking around desperatly. "This is wrong, ALL WRONG! CAN YOU SEE WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT?! IT'S PURPLE! The elements. . . what has happened to its elements? This is not a dragon! This is a monster!" With that, the earth guardian wiped its tail at the purple dragon, sending it flying out of the dragon temple.

"No! How dare you!" The fire dragon cried. She immediatly took off, flying towards it.

With her speed, she got there in time before it would hit the ground and die. The baby dragon was obviously frightened. The fire guardian took it and cradled it. "You are a boy." She sighed. "I shall name you. . .Malefor."

Hunter paused and smiled at Spyro's expression. "Malefor was the first?!" Spyro gasped.

Cynder widened her eyes. "What happened next!" She asked, wanting to hear more. Ember and Flame on the other hand were chewing Kirpi and Grublin, not focusing on the story.

"Alright young dragons, but the next part is depressing. I shall continue." Hunter cleared his voice.

As the years passed, Malefor became strong. The fire guardian became his mother, and she found out he had all of the elements. All the other guardians were proud of this creation, and wanted more. They knew nothing would ever happen when they had a purple dragon with them.

The earth guardian on the other hand noticed dark purple electricity surrounding him sometimes whenever he got angry at an ennemy. What if Malefor got angry at one of us? The earth guardian thought. What if he is. . . stronger?

So, he talked about this to the fire guardian.

"Of course not! Malefor is my son and he is kind and loving. He has been raised by guardians and nothing could be better for him" She had said.

"I know, but. . . what if he turned against us? He would. . . crush us all."

   "What do you mean?"

"I have been seeing things. . . some kind of dark electricity surrounding him whenever he got angry. It might be an effect from when you created him, but that's what makes him so powerful. You haven't just created a purple dragon with all the elements. . . but you have created. . ." he gulped. "Darkness."

Three months later, the day they dreaded came. The darkness over-took Malefor, making him greedy. He thought he deserved to be a guardian too. When he was rejected, he told them: "I can be ALL the guardians! I have more power than all of you COMBINED!"

That was when he lost it, the 'black electricity' consumed him and he became dark. He growled and then furied them, sending them jolting back.

"Please don't hurt him!" The fire guardian pleaded, still having hope. "He wouldn't hurt us! Would you, dear?"

Malefor's eyes were sad for once. "I'm sorry mom, but this is the way it has to be."

He killed his mother that night, but the other guardians stood back and fought. The war lasted about two years when Malefor had gotten older, and hadn't fought as much. The ice guardian entraped him in a purple crystal chasm.

"And that was until he escaped, and you defeated him." Hunter finished.

Spyro and Cynder's expressions were dumbfounded. "How could he kill his own mother? His creator?" Cynder gasped, tears forming in her eyes.

"The darkness, that's why. It's in every purple dragon now, a side effect from the whole experiment." Hunter said. "And that's why you two turn dark when you get angry, but do not let that get in your way. You two are both kind in heart."

The rest of the night was filled with meals until it was time for sleep. Cynder slept by the fire until it began to rain a bit. Spyro still awake, scooted closer to Cynder and put his wing over her in protection from the rain. His mind ran across the story Hunter had told him. . . what if he could become like Malefor?
Oh my goodness! I'm so proud of this! This has to be at least one of my favourite pieces of writing! The story is so epic, and to give you a hint: There is something with the fire guardian and Flame. . . ;)

THIS IS SO AWESOME, AND EPIC, AND COOL, AND INTERESTING ALL AT THE SAME TIME! Would spyro really become like that? Become like Malefor? I don't even believe he would. I love spyro. :)
